چکیده
To prevent climate change, Europe and the world must shift to low-carbon renewable energies. Hydrogen, as an energy vector, provides viable solutions for replacing polluting carbon-emitting fossil fuels. Gaseous hydrogen can be stored underground coupled with existing natural gas pipe networks. Salt cavern storage is best suited technology meet challenges of new systems. Hydrogen caverns are currently operated in UK Texas. A preliminary risk analysis dedicated salt highlighted importance containment losses (leaks) formation clouds following blowouts, whose ignition may generate dangerous phenomena such jet fires, unconfined vapor cloud explosions (UVCEs), or flashfires. blowout not a frequent accident caverns. safety valve often set at 30 m depth below ground level; it automatically triggered pressure drop wellhead. Stability Analysis of Salt Cavern Gas Storage Using 2D Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical Finite-Element Software
Ensuring the stability and integrity of underground gas storage salt caverns is a very complicated subject due to the non-linear and time-dependent behavior of rock salts under complicated thermal and mechanical loading conditions. For this reason, pressure and temperature fluctuations in the caverns and their surrounding strata must be integrated into the analysis and the numerical tools that ...
متن کاملa study on thermodynamic models for simulation of 1,3 butadiene purification columns
attempts have been made to study the thermodynamic behavior of 1,3 butadiene purification columns with the aim of retrofitting those columns to more energy efficient separation schemes. 1,3 butadiene is purified in two columns in series through being separated from methyl acetylene and 1,2 butadiene in the first and second column respectively. comparisons have been made among different therm...
Density Functional Studies on Crystal Structure and electronic properties of Potassium Alanate as a candidate for Hydrogen storage
Potassium Alanate is one of the goal candidates for hydrogen storage during past decades. In this report, initially the Density Functional Theory was applied to simulate the electronic and structural characteristic of the experimentally known KAlH4 complex hydride. The relaxation of unit cell parameters and atomic positions was performed until the total residual force reduced less than 0.001ev ...
متن کاملA Control System for A Pilot Batch Polymerization Reactor
In this article several control schemes for a pilot scale polymerization reactor are proposed and one of them is selected as the most suitable design. The performances of proposed schemes have been compared through computer simulations. The controllers are PID and Chosen reaction is polymerization of methyl methacrylate which is highly exothermic.
متن کاملClathrate hydrogen hydrate--a promising material for hydrogen storage.
Hydrogen is viewed as a promising clean fuel of the future. A low-cost hydrogen storage technology that provides a high storage capacity and fast kinetics is a critical factor in the development of a hydrogen economy for transportation. The technologies to store hydrogen can be classified into three types: compression, liquefaction, and storage in a solid material. 2] Compressing hydrogen requi...
